Fournoi: Where the blue of the sea meets the green of the trees

Known as the island of cursors, but also as a place where time stops, the Furnaces of Corsica provide such a beautiful simplicity that touches every visitor. A cluster of islands, islands, and islands of the eastern Aegean, their position is west-southwest of Samos and east of Ikaria, and in order to reach this earthly paradise, one has to take the ferry line from the port of Piraeus (about 10- 12 hours journey). Otherwise, he will have to travel by air to Samos or Ikaria and from there seek the ferry connecting Fournoi with the two islands.

The flora and fauna of the place are of particular interest, which is why the Oven has been included in the Natura 2000 program. Their beauty, after all, is evident in every corner, in every settlement, which has its own character.

The first image that the visitor has, coming down from the ship and facing Chora, is the white and blue mixed with the green of the trees. Together they cast their shadow on the stone alley that connects the port with the main square. There, you can enjoy your coffee, in small coffee shops with whitewashed mulberries, talk to the hospitable locals, pass the chapel of Agios Nikolaos and from there climb the stairs and walk around the village, watching the traditional village. houses. In the evenings, on the background of colorful boats, its beach is full of people.

About a kilometer away is Kambi, a small settlement built amphitheatrically. Its "entrance" is found in the three mills, which you will encounter on the road leading to Chrysomilia (and the rest of the island). Kambi has one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Many boats are sheltered in the creek, while much modern accommodation with sea views has been built in the surrounding hills.

Chrysomilia is the second big village of Fournoi. A haven of tranquility, accessed either by boat or by car, is characterized by the unique beauty, with many beaches all around and the most picturesque Aegean fishing refuge.

Opposite the Fournoi is Thimena, a small islet with few inhabitants, which is worth visiting by boat, as well as that it hides several bays for separate dives and of course good fishing.

Endless dives

On an island like Fourni, the beaches are expected to surprise you. Easily accessible and on foot are Psili Ammos (next to Chora) and Kambi. You can reach Agios Ioannis by car or boat, while by boat you will also visit the beach of Petrokopi. Be sure to visit the numerous bays with the crystal clear waters of the boat, as the result is impressive.
